Eating In

There will be a Devon farmhouse cream tea waiting for you when you arrive at Kerswell Farm. If you would also like a cake or some home-made cookies to make your time with us extra special, let me know in advance and I will get baking. A few ideas…

  • Farmhouse fruit cake
  • Lemon drizzle
  • Buttery oat cookies (fruit and nuts optional)

Local shopping

G E Honey and Son is the really excellent and great-value butcher in Parkham selling home-grown and locally-produced meat. There’s a brilliant and very well-stocked wet fish shop in Appledore and excellent small convenience shops with Post Offices are not far away in Woolsery (plenty of local and interesting produce here) and Bucks Cross. There are many supermarkets in Bideford and most large supermarkets will deliver to Kerswell Farm. There’s also an organic shop selling fresh produce and all manner of supplies on the way into Appledore.

Eating out

It’s always difficult to recommend places to eat, as they change often, and tastes vary – these are just a few of those that we have tried and enjoyed or have been highly recommended to us by people we trust!

  • The Bell Inn, Parkham

The Bell Inn in Parkham is a friendly pub with a decent menu and good beer and cider although service can be rather slow.

  • Sylvester's Fish and Chips

Excellent fish and chips in Appledore, take away and eat on the Quay or take it into The Champ next door, an old and characterful pub pub, and enjoy a drink and frequent live music as well!

  • The Farmers Arms, Woolsery

Highly recommended, interesting food and fantastic décor. Only ten minutes away. The Sunday lunch is something rather special. Booking essential.

    Visit the Farmers Arms website
  • The Seagate, Appledore

The Seagate on the quay in lovely Appledore, dog-friendly and great seasonal food. Very popular!

  • The Royal George, Appledore

A locals favourite, booking highly advisable. Dog friendly and fabulous food, service and views.

  • The Coach and Horses, Buckland Brewer

Old and traditional country pub with very good food and a friendly welcome, only a few miles away.

  • The Hoops

Reliably good food served all day with excellent vegetarian options, large garden.
